As Children we often wonder why certain rules or regulations have been set in place for us. So we go to our parents or an older individual and we ask them, why? The answer we almost always get is this, “it’s whats best for you my child”. Or “It will help you live a better life my child”. And as a child we obeyed our parents but we were often still left confused. It seemed more fun for us to explore our surroundings or get into things we were not supposed to be getting into. As children we had a sense of our fears and we felt our own limitations but still we were told we could not do specific things for our own safety or to benefit us for our future. Now that I am older I can see why my parents kept me from certain situations and tried to nudge my life in a certain direction, But still as an adult I find myself having the same questions I had as a child. Instead they are at a much larger scale.
I often wonder about my society. The American society. And I realize how fortunate we are. We have many freedoms here. We have many opportunities in this country. Opportunities that are allowed to all, and if you work hard enough you are able to live a more than suitable life here. I have talked to many people who have lived in different countries and they all only have good things to say about our country. They say no one should complain here. They often say everyone is rich here, even the poor. But lately my country has seemed the poorest of them all. Don’t get me wrong, or misunderstand my statement please. What I mean by that is that this country has become a huge disgrace. In past post I have spoken about the resent election. I truly under estimated the fact of how huge of a joke this election would become. It is very disappointing to see two of our own country’s “leaders” bicker on public television like two children. I am also astonished that we are still fighting issues that should have been resolved years ago. Haven’t we learned from our past mistakes? There always seems to be something that I haven’t figured out about our country. There is always something that has been kept under wraps in this country, And this year this is what I have have learned about my country. My country is set up by lies. My country is set up by greedy men. My country’s society is a selfish society full of self interest. My country was establish through steeling. My country has not garnered a new way of living for many decades but instead have maintained old and useless mentalities. There needs to be a change. I ask myself if relaying on old leaders is really the way.
Yes our country has made many mistakes, but I think in the next years to come we really need to focus on change. And the thing is it does not start with our leaders. Our leadrs have been the one to make those mistakes. What we need to change is how we raise our future leaders. We need to raise children to love one another no matter what differences we have. We need to raise our future leaders to not be greedy. We need to teach them the importance of honesty. We need to teach our future leaders to accept differences. Most importantly to love. Above all else, love and honor peace.
I am proud of my country. But I am disappointed with it’s leaders behavior. I now have the same questions I had as a child. Is everything the older generation doing really for my best interest. Now I am more concerned with the future of this country and the generations to come. I am concerned for my children and the state I will be leaving them in when I no longer exist. I hope that my children believe in peace and love. I will try my very best to teach it to them and hope that the mind set of this country will change. My vote is for the future.
