It is almost like when you are a child. It is that moment when you are so excited to get to the other side of the playground and know that you have to cross that hot square pavement to get there. It seems almost impossible but your great enthusiasm completely diverts any feeling of terror. You begin to run and your excitement pushes you. Your feet accelerate like never before. Right when you make it to the half way mark you look up to the sky with joy. You forget you have legs and even how to use then. You are flying. When you realize that it is impossible for you to fly your hands are already in front of you, and so is the hot square pavement. Your hand and knees catch your fall…
Finally when you comprehend what has happened, you role over and sit on your bottom. You begin to feel the burn. You look at your knees and hands. Blood, then tears come next. You do not even remember the pain. You only remember that you did not make it to the other side of the playground, and that every one saw you fall. Everyone saw you fail….
As you sit there with tears in yours eyes you realize something else. There is still hope. You can still make it to the other side. You are already half way there. Why not!? You KNOW you can still make it. So you get up, dust off your wounds, and begin to walk slowly to your destination. As you move closer to your goal you smile because you know that all though you are not going at the speed you once were, you are still moving closer to the other side of the playground. Any ounce of fear this fall could have given you moves away with every step you take. You are aware that you are moving away from the pain, and closer to where you wanted to be any way.
