This piece of work by Keith Bradsher was quite informative to me. The writing can probably be best described as an informative essay. It is based on true facts and it is filled with quotes from many different people who are familiar with the topic. The author did an amazing job on making the focus of this writing known. All of the punctuation in the writing was correct and relevent to the author’s rhythm. The one thing that I did not find appeasing about the writing was the writers transitioning. The author did transition from point to point smoothly. Although the author was very eloquent about everything else in his writing, I found the transitioning of points to be very faulty. At certain times, while reading, I found myself asking, “where is the author going with this?”.
This piece of work in whole was very informative. I always thought that wind power was only a thing of myth. I also thought that it was only something that was experimented in the United States, and was abandoned. I thought that our country did not have enough money to continue with the experiments for wind turbines. Little did I know that billions of dollars go into these turbines every year. The passage really opened my eyes to the truth about this topic. The article showed me that even though the U.S is one of the leading in turbine energy the United States does not stand alone in wind powered energy sources. Indiana, China, and Germany are just a few of the other countries that manufacture wind turbines. What came to my surprise was the amount of money that goes into building and powering the turbines. Even though the article’s transitions were weak the information the writer gave compensated for the poor transitioning, giving any reader a new-found knowledge about the power of wind. Except for the way the author transitioned through out the passage, I feel like the article was very informative, effective in its points, and well written.
