Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the major contributor in writing this document. This document was written very similarly to The Declaration of Independence, and had many of the same intentions. Before this document was written the Women’s Right movement was in full swing. Women needed to establish some form of understanding with the leaders of our great country. This document was the perfect way for the men in Washington D.C. to see how unfair and unequal women were to men. The Women set up this particular document in literally the same format as our Declaration of Independence. It was the only format they could use to adequately express their equal treatment under the law. The direct approach was quite surprising especially for this time period and circumstances they were already under. It took a whole lot of courage to attack the hypocrites that were making the laws. Thats why the opening paragraph of The Declaration of Independence was included at the beginning, to argue that our forefathers wanted equality for all men and women.
This was an argumentative essay that was used to voice the frustrations of thousands of women in America. The tone was slightly hostile, attacking the laws that deterred women from obtaining liberty and pursing happiness. The women who wrote this declaration laid out all the laws and the contradictions against the Declaration of Independence concerning women’s rights. The women followed up with some proposed resolutions. The document was very well organized in the sense of transitions. The document transitioned from one issue to the next related issue instead of jumping in and out of the problems. The women organized the issues and laid them out according to relation with one another. The vernacular of the document was also quite impressive because they voiced anger without the text being vulgar, while still being straightforward. All in all it was a riveting, emotional, and important document. It changed how men viewed and respected women. It showed women just how influential they can be and are. This document changed the course of history for the better. The argument of this document was very well expressed and definitely changed a lot of made up views.
